I was wondering just how susceptible the polished bezel is on the Explorer I to marks and scratches. I have heard everything from “scratch magnet” to no worries at all. If any Explorer owners could chime in it would be appreciated. The bezel: first pop it off, if you look closely at the bottom edge (against the case) of it, you should find a slight open area where a blade can be wedged in and levered so that the bezel can be pryed off. Some tape on the case will avoid any scratches. Then place a scotchbrite green pad on the table and place the bezel upside down onto the pad.

I have little scratches all over my steel bezel watches, but that's the point. I'd be much more worried about cracking ceramic than getting scratches on steel, which is part of the deal. Mild soap and warm water rinse to remove dirt/dust that will scratch the surface when it gets moved around by a cloth. Doesn't matter how soft your cloth is if it's pushing dust around on the surface of the watch.I have the 214270 explorer with similar bezel. It’ll get a couple light scratches, but it’s not a gash magnet. I’ve worn my explorer almost daily for 5-6 months and it doesn’t have anything on the bezel that couldn’t be made like-new with a cape cod.
