"misalignment" of minute/second hands: Intended design feature or QC issue? Rolex General Discussion

I've finally figured out how to perfectly align the minute and second hands of my new M Series Sea Dweller. I started a thread last week asking how I could prevent my minute hand from alternately lagging and overshooting the second hand.

Rolex Hour Marker Alignment. 1. Bezel misalignment on the Submariner/GMTII seem to be a pretty common problem. Not acceptable IMO, but it is seems to be prevalent. 2. Rehaut alignment is another common problem. Gross misalignment is not acceptable either, but a very slight misalignment is understandable. 3. I have a watch from a well respected Swiss brand in the 00+ range and it has a misaligned hour hand. Technically it's really the minute hand that is set about 4 minutes fast but it looks like the OP's watch only a bit worse. I'm very detail observant but not OCD and I didn't notice the misalignment for a few weeks. In the attached pic of the hands lines up at midnight, you can see the hour hand peeking to the right underneath the minute hand. The other pics show the same at effect at different times, with the 2am shot using the seconds hand as a straight edge of sorts.

The 24 hour hand on the Rolex did not align with the hour indicator when the minute hand was at 1200. There was a good 2-1/2 minutes delay before the 24 hour hand was exactly in line with the hour marker. The watch has been back to the AD three times and to the factory for adjustment. I've owned a number of GMT watches, and have come to expect that the GMT hand will sometimes not align perfectly with the main hour/minute hands. I can take a minute or even two of deviation, but six minutes is a significant difference, and will drive me INSANE if I have to live with it.

I have read in another forum that the hour hand can be misaligned when the minute hand is at the 12 o'clock position. The best way to check is at 6 o'clock when the hour hand should point directly at 6.

Misalignment up to +-4 minutes (turn the minute hand till the hour hand is perfectly aligned to a full hour and look how much to or over 12 the minute hand is located) is industry standard. But this definitely looks like a misalignment over 5-10mins It is impossible to tell whether or not the hand is misaligned as we have no way to tell if this picture was taken square on. The tolerance for the hand setting is 1 minute either side. It would be better if you set the time to 6 o'clock and that would give you a better indication.
